Cookery Club Begins

Tuesday marked the start of cookery club, which went very well!

For our first week, we learned the basic principles of working in the kitchen, including personal hygiene and how to stay safe in the kitchen. Once we had discussed these important topics, we moved onto learning about yeast and how it is used to make bread. We then had to follow a simple recipe and make our own bread!

It was a little messy but we managed to have lots of fun while learning about different kitchen processes such as measuring, mixing and kneading. It was sometimes quite tricky as we had to share our equipment and work together, so good teamwork and communication was needed too. We took our proving bread rolls home to bake in the oven.
